Tomato Times Challenge all about making conscious healthy choices
25 May 2022The Global Tomato Congress in The Hague set the stage last week for the tomato brand Prominent to announce the Tomato Times Challenge 2022. Commercial Director for Growers United, Perry Dekkers, was joined by a special guest for the occasion. He and nutritionist Manon Wouters spoke about the goals for this year’s challenge and the development that more and more consumers are making conscious choices for a healthier lifestyle.
The 2022 theme of the Tomato Times Challenge by Prominent is all about making conscious healthy choices while preparing a (tomato) dish. A theme that is highly topical these days. After two years of the pandemic, consumers seem to be more aware of the need for healthy nutrition.

“Together, we still face the challenge of creating more tomato moments among consumers. Showing them that there is a tomato for every moment of the day," says Perry at the congress. The goal of the challenge in 2022 is to show consumers how healthy, affordable and simple tomato dishes can be. The congress marked the first step. The public clearly enjoyed the tomato snacks that were prepared live by chef Sieberen.
Collaboration with nutritionist
To inspire its customers and followers to make the healthiest choices in future, Prominent has struck up a partnership with nutritionist Manon Wouters. Manon is a nutritional coach who has established her own platform. She inspires her 32,000 Instagram followers daily with clever little facts and food swaps for a healthier lifestyle.
Dinner for two
“A small change in your diet can often have a big impact on your health,” says nutritionist Manon at the congress. “Think about making a simple dietary change by adding more vegetables to your pasta and choosing wholewheat spaghetti. Making your tomato sauce yourself is also much healthier and cheaper." Next month, Manon’s Instagram followers stand to win a dinner for two in a hip tomato restaurant in Haarlem. Manon will also join the winners at the table that evening to provide some nutrition tips.
